I hope you're off to a great 2016. Granted we're in the 3rd month of the year.
Things have been good so far. I started working for the Easter Seals of Southern California in January. I get to work from home 99% of the time and my boss is amazing. My work is fun, challenging, and I continue to learn and grow. ❤
Working from home makes time move slower on a daily basis, but the hours of work go fast. No stress and I'm loving it.
Update on health and such...Since my ovaries were removed I experience hotflashes that can at times be miserable. Most of the time I feel it coming on. For me I feel heat rising from my insides to the surface, from my chest rising to my head, then I break out in a sweat.
I've actually started to write this post a number of times only to either be interrupted or change my mind about sharing some of the unpleasant things going on as if relates post ovary removal. The last few days have come to a head for me and I've reached a completely new chapter in which I once again feel can be shared as a way to pave the path of awareness as you ladies approach menopause.
Last summer the kids started doing Jiu Jitsu. They've had a good time with it, and I've enjoyed watching them grow and learn. So much so, I started in September 2015. I sweat a lot, I workout really hard, I compete only with myself to get better with each class. As one would expect from working out, my body has morphed, and I've experienced new pains.
The problem? The morphing of my once relatively petite body hasn't been the result of muscle gain, but fat gain instead. See, one of the other things we've heard about with menopause is weight gain. My oncologist warned me not to gain weight, and I swear I really thought my changing body was the result of working out. I mean my pants have gotten tight in the area I would expect because my bottom was gaining muscle. But what didn't make sense to me was my clothes getting tight in my mid section. And it took me a good while to figure out that I have been gaining fat! I mean, I examined my eating habits, which hadn't changed much in the last 8 to 9 months, and I work out a couple times a week. So what the heck?
After doing a little research, I have learned that estrogen plays a huge part of regulating many other hormones necessary for the stability of our metabolism, hunger, etc. Now that my body has been forced abruptly into menopause, I'm all out of sorts...
The good thing is that with my little bit of research so far, I am able to make some quick changes to ensure I am infact eating a clean healthy diet, and that I begin a new exercise regimine. I refuse to go up a size in clothes, and I'm on the verge (I have only 2 pair of pants that fit, and that is only becaus they stretch).
Ladies, I encourage you all to take time for yourself (which benefits your family too) and get the girls checked (duh), but also take time for
