The strangest thing happened yesterday. Well maybe not the strangest... So I pretty much walk around with nothing on my head, in public and around the house. I went to Costco with my sister-in-law yesterday and after I got out of line, a young gal (probably in her 20s) approached me and said "I just wanted to tell you i really like your hair style". This gals name is Shelby and she was sporting the same style, except she is still receiving chemo. She it's battling leukemia. We stood and chatted for a few minutes and for some reason even though we both shared we are on the path to recovery and winning the battle, I began to cry. I am not sure if the tears were for me, for her, or just the fact that I was talking with someone else who has endured a similar journey and it felt safe. Anyway, Shelby is in my prayers now, as she begins her maintenance in August.
We are preparing for my sister's wedding this Saturday. It has been a busy few days with the wedding stuff and my doctor appointments. This past Monday we reached our goal for my reconstruction and we are on target for surgery next Wednesday. Final surgery!!! Following the surgery, the plastic surgeon also does nipple/areola tattooing in 3D! I thought I was going to have to find and pay for a tattoo artist to do it but thankfully this surgeon wants to create his own version of perfection and I don't need to look any further.
I've been doing well. It is uncomfortable to lay on my back at night but I can't lay on my side either, so the lesser of the two is laying on my back. I'm praying that after the final surgery and the healing I won't experience permanent pain, so pray with me please.
That sums it up for now.
